John Manocchio, Chairman

John Manocchio is currently serving as Board Chairman. He is a 17 year resident of the North Tahoe/Truckee area. He and his wife, Sarah are raising their 2 boys, Lucas 4 and Zachary 2 in Truckee. As a financial advisor and a former mechanical engineer and operations manager in the manufacturing industry, he brings a diverse set of skills and knowledge to the board of Sierra Senior Services. These skills range from analytical problem solving, to long term strategic planning, to financial and business analysis, to leadership.

Jim Dykstra,Treasurer

Jim Dykstra has lived in Incline Village for 14 years with his wife Jane, and they have two children, Jessica and Joshua, who are graduates of Incline High School. Jim is a retired Certified Public Accountant who spent most of his career working as a financial executive for the Dole Food Company and Tahoe City Public Utility District. He is passionate about the Meals on Wheels program, because he witnessed how it helped his father in Southern California during his battle with Multiple Myeloma (blood cancer).

Sue Klabunde, Secretary

Sue Klabunde has a passion for enabling seniors to stay in their own homes as long as they are able. This comes from many years as a physical therapist doing home health. After spending her entire professional life in health care, most recently as a hospital administrator, Sue is now retired and spends her time volunteering with non-profit organizations and with her three grandchildren!

Mary Anderson, Director

Mary Anderson joined the Board in June of 2013 after having relocated from San Francisco to Tahoe City where she and her husband had a vacation home for some 30 years. Mary has been in non profit association management for her entire career, having recently served as Executive Director for a social service agency in Fremont that provided food, companionship, transportation support and in-home exercise to homebound seniors. Mary looks forward to helping Sierra Senior Services as an involved and interested Board member.

Susan Duffy Smith, Director

In her role as Recreation Coordinator for Senior activities for Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District, Susan was interacting with Sierra Senior Services staff on a regular basis; organizing trips, picnics, and other socialization opportunities for seniors in the community.  Susan joined the Sierra Senior Services Board and pooled community resources and contacts so that both her employer and SSS could offer more and better services to the senior population. Susan was also familiar with the Meals on Wheels program as a child. Her mother was an RN, and one of her main volunteer activities was serving as a driver and volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program in Tucson, Arizona. She felt it was really important for caring people to deliver meals to people who are homebound, check on their welfare, and provide a link to the community for them. When Susan was looking around for organizations where she could make a difference as a volunteer, Sierra Senior Services stood out as serving an important role for people who really need help.
