How do I sign up for meal delivery?

What if I can't have extra sodium?

Sodium is not added to any of our meals.

What do I have to pay for my meal?

Meals on Wheels is a donation program and participants donate as they are able.  A donation $4 per meal is welcomed.

How often do you deliver meals?

We deliver meals daily, Monday through Friday 11:30am - 1:30pm.  Weekend and holiday frozen meals are available for those interested and are delivered in advance of the weekend or holiday.

What happens if you can't deliver my meal?

Sierra Senior Services provides a proactive program; we will deliver a meal in advance of storms if there is a threatened system coming through the Sierras.   

Meals on Wheels allows seniors to remain independent and at home for as long as possible while providing a safety net for the most frail and vulnerable segment of our population.

Our service areas go from Floriston to Donner Summit, up Highway 89 and throughout Truckee.  Along Lake Tahoe we serve from Incline Village to Tahoma, including Kings Beach and Tahoe City.

Meals on Wheels Eligibility Guidelines

• Must be 60 years or older
• Has trouble in two or more of the following areas caring for themselves: bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, breathing, transferring, standing
• Does not drive on a regular basis
• Needs assistance due to cognitive or mental impairment
• A spouse or dependent of a senior on the program, regardless of age, if it is determined it is in the best interest of the senior to provide them both with meals.
• Does not have family member or other care providers to assist with meals during the day.
